Description

This silk strip curtain is a collaborative unique piece of SERAPIS x ASTRONAUTS, and is currently showcased in ALCOVA Miami as part of our newly launched presentation titled Hybris Astern.

The crepe de chine silk pieces that the curtain is made of are upcycled leftovers from the SERAPIS silk garment production, and carry various details from the inkjet print narratives formed in different projects and collections.  The handmade hydroformed metallic scupltural hooks and aluminium rail, drawing inspiration from fishing and maritime gear are made by ASTRONAUTS, in a collaborative effort to create new forms of storytelling and use. The format of the walk in strip curtain is structurally inspired by the industrial, commonly PVC strip curtains.

Drawing on the two collectives’ shared maritime references and respective specialisms in metal and textile, the installation ‘Hybris Astern’ features limited-edition furniture and ornaments. Chairs, vases, silk wall hangings, and a mobile pendant embody our textural and photographic narratives, reflected in jacquard upholsteries and digitally printed silks.
